Show up.
Every day, or as often as needs to be done.
Figure out the schedule. Perhaps it’s once a week.
It’s not about extremes. It’s not about doing a magnanimous or extraordinary thing on one singular day, or in one moment.
It’s the accumulation of micro-actions.
It’s about consistency.
It’s about showing up, even when things aren’t perfect, even when you’re not sure, even when you’re scared.
Show up.
It’s doing something, even a little bit at a time. Maybe a 10-minute walk during lunch, or a 30-minute light walk, rather than a run. But you’re doing it. You’re doing something, not nothing.
Today.
Show up.
This was so simple. And yet, I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Your simplicity inspires me. Thanks!
Excellent! A few years ago I was in a leadership training class. At the beginning of the class we were to give one statement expressing what it takes to be a leader. As we went around the room there were some great statements but all I could think of for my contribution was, “Be Present.” after I said it I thought it sounded moronic!!!! Since then I realize the importance of being present in everything we do.
Hey Sarah! I have been following you on twitter for some time, but that’s the first time I am at your blog really…. and I am mad at myself I haven’t come here earlier. Great post you have written. Already signed up for weekly updates :)
Needed this today.
I couldn’t agree more.
It’s about taking small actions each and every day. Just taking the first step towards a goal.
This is much better than sporadic, massive action….
I have stumbled across your blog from Cordelia Calls it Quits and I am so glad I did. Your writing is so simple and inspiring. For the longest time I would say “Be Present” to my colleagues and friends yet I never was until recently. This post is exactly what I needed to read at the end of a stressful, miserable week. I can’t wait to follow you on Twitter and read more!
